Showy rose-purple flowers with five petals, solitary or in small clusters on the ends of the stalks.  Leaves with three to five toothed lobes that spread out like the fingers of a hand.  Fruits long narrow cylindrical pods, nearly black. Blooms in late spring to early summer in sunny places.

Common along Wildwood Drive. 

Leaf shape and five-petalled rose-purple flowers are disinctive.
