Green-and-Gold or Golden Star, Chrysogonum virginianum

Blooms in May into June on the bluffs under the powerline along Wildwood Drive, and in the adjacent woods.  Five (sometimes six) yellow rays surround a central yellow disk.  Leaves green, strongly veined, hairy, toothed, and oval to triangular.

No other flowering plant in Wildwood quite resembles it.
