Medium-sized plant to 3 ft tall. Leaves egg-shaped, opposite each other, on long, hairy stalks. Flowers showy, somewhat nodding, with 5 bright yellow
petals. Each petal tipped with one or more sharp teeth.
A charming native of moist thickets, pond shores, and streamsides. Rare in Wildwood, seen near the wetland at the Main Street Entrance.
The yellow, toothy petals are a good identifying character. |
