The Teen Center

Please note that the Library reserves the right to direct unaccompanied adults to other areas of the Library when
their presence is not specifically tied to the use of materials in the youth areas,
their presence might intimidate youth from using the areas, or
their presence restricts access to furniture when the areas are heavily used.
The Radford Public Library has, for many years, served as a safe place for teenagers to come after school while waiting to be picked up by their parents. The “Teen Scene,” was built specifically for this age group.
In addition to a liberal-sized collection of books, the young adult area also offers recorded audio books, and magazines, all available for check out.
A full time staff person is always on hand in the Teen Area. Activities include board games, weekly video game sessions, a chalk wall, and an outdoor patio where teens are free to eat snacks in the afternoons.
Once every few months the library will host larger and more special programs for teens. We hope that teenagers who not only HAVE to be here because they are waiting for their parents, but also teenagers who WANT to be here will attend.
Any questions or concerns about the Young Adult area regarding programs or rules/regulations should be directed to the Teen Staffer:
Dave Banker—at 731—5527.
