1. Alcoholic Beverages, drugs, or any person under the
influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted on City of Radford property.

2. Smoking and the use of any other tobacco product is
prohibited in the Radford Recreation Center and around entrance areas.
3. Drinks from Radford Recreation Center vending machines will
only be permitted in the main lobby and lounge.
4. Drinks and/or food may not be brought inside the gym.
5. Chewing gum is prohibited in the Radford Recreation Center.
6. Threatening or indecent conduct is prohibited.
7. Abusive, profane, threatening, or indecent language is
strictly prohibited.
8. Threatening language or actions toward Radford Parks and
Recreation Staff will result in a minimum of one year suspension from all
Radford Parks and Recreation facilities and programs. A No Trespass Notice will
be issued.
9. Fighting is strictly prohibited. Adults fighting will
receive a minimum of one year suspension from the Radford Recreation Center with
policy action and a No Trespass Notice. Youth fighting will result in suspension
as determined by the Director of Parks and Recreation and parental notification
given.
10. Any suspension from the Radford Recreation Center may also
include suspension from all Radford Parks and Recreation facilities and
programs. Any suspension from an adult athletic program may also result in a
suspension from the use of the Radford Recreation Center.
11. Anyone who refuses to leave City of Radford property (after
being restricted to do so) will receive a minimum of one month additional
suspension, with a No Trespass Notice and police action taken.
12. Gambling of any form is prohibited.
13. Only non-marking sneakers and tennis shoes may be used in
the gymnasium (track and courts) and racquetball courts.
14. Shirts and shoes must be worn during all hours of
operation.
15. No pets will be allowed in the Radford Recreation Center,
except for dog obedience classes or guide dogs.
16. Loitering will not be allowed.
17. Bicycles must be locked in the bike rack. Radford Parks and
Recreation will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged articles.
18. No skateboards, roller skates, or in-line skates may be
used on sidewalks or inside the Radford Recreation Center.
19. Entry and exit must be through the doors near the
recreation center circulation desk.
20. Lockers may be rented on a daily or monthly basis. Radford
Parks and Recreation is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged articles.
21. All equipment stored in classrooms is for the Radford Parks
and Recreation use only.
22. The Department of Parks and Recreation has the authority to
revoke any individual’s privileges of using the Radford Recreation Center for
any length of time for disorderly conduct. Suspensions may vary according to
director discretion and the severity of the offense.
23. Suspension may be increased or made permanent if an
individual repeats an offense or attempts to enter the Radford Recreation Center
while under suspension.
24. The Department of Parks and Recreation has the authority to
suspend an individual for any violation of the rules and regulations of the
Radford Recreation Center.

 

Registration �

1. All registrations must be made in person at the Radford
Parks & Recreation Department during operating hours. We can only take the exact
amounts for registrations after 5pm and on weekends.
2. All fees must be paid at the time of the registration.
Please make check(s) payable to: Radford Parks & Recreation.
3. Pre-registration is required for all programs.
4. Registration is accepted on a “first come, first served”
basis up to the maximum enrollment for special classes. All sport program
registrations will be accepted through the deadline.
5. Phone registrations will not be allowed.
6. If the program is full, you may request that your name and
phone number be put on a waiting list. You will be contacted if a space becomes
available.
7. Late registrations are only possible when there are
openings.
8. Refunds will be granted only in the following cases:
* A program or class is canceled
* Medical excuse
* Two-week notice is given

9. A minimum number of participants are required to hold a
class. Where enrollment is low, the Recreation Department reserves the right to
cancel the activity. To assure that the activity is held, please register early.
10. Residency: A resident is anyone living within the Radford
City limits. Non-residents are required to pay additional fees and may be
limited.
11. Age: Age level indicates participants must be that age by
the starting date of the class or by the date indicated.
12. During the school year, if Radford City Schools are closed
or released early due to inclement weather, all youth programs for that date are
automatically postponed to a later date. Decisions on the adult programs will be
made after 4:00pm on that day.
13. Any cancellations due to inclement weather will be made
after 3:30pm.

Membership Fees and ID Card System �

1.For city residents to get a membership you must have a photo ID with a Radford Address and one other item (mail, bill, etc.)
to show proof of residency. For non-residents all that is required is a photo ID.
2.Radford Recreation Center ID cards are
required during all hours of operation unless otherwise stated. ID’S MUST BE
SHOWN AT THE RECREATION CENTER CIRCULATION DESK UPON ENTERING THE CENTER.
3. Residents who wish to have an ID card must show proof of
City of Radford Residency.
4. All memberships must be renewed the following year during
the same month the ID card was issued.
5. Initial ID cards will be free. Replacement fee of a lost or
stolen card will be $5.00
6. ID cards are only used to utilize facilities in the Radford
Recreation Center during stated hours.
7.Non-residents may purchase ID cards daily for a fee of $5.00

8. ID cards are not required to participate in
Radford Parks and Recreation programs, but participants must pay participation
fees.
9. Non-residents will pay registration fees to participate in
Radford Parks and Recreation programs. Use of facility is limited to the
specific program area.

 

GYM & Track �

1. Only non-marking athletic shoes may be worn, to protect
the floor.
2. Dunking or rim hanging will not be permitted.
3. During busy times, only half court games will be allowed.
4. Twelve (12) laps in the center track equals one mile.
5. Only children of walking age will be permitted on the track.
6. Strollers will be permitted on the track only during times
of low use.
7. During busy times the inside track lane is for slow walkers,
the center lane is for fast walkers, and the outside lane will be for
joggers/runners.
8. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday the walking
direction will be clockwise (turn right when entering track) and on Tuesday,
Thursday, and Saturday the walking direction will be counter clockwise (turn
left when entering track.)
9. Only water in spill proof containers will be allowed inside
the gymnasium during scheduled activities. No food will be allowed.

 

Computer Lab �

Use of the computer lab is considered a privilege and inappropriate use will
result in a suspension of that privilege. Examples of inappropriate use include:
violation of computer system integrity; unauthorized tampering with computer
hardware or software; violation of software license agreements and copyright
laws; violation of another user’s privacy; use of sounds or visuals which are
disruptive to other users; illegal acts involving computer lab resources; or
sending, receiving, or displaying graphics which may reasonably be construed as
obscene.

 

Racquetball Courts �

1. Doors must be closed when racquetball courts are in use.
2. Non-marking shoes are required on the floor.
3. Proper eye guards are strongly recommended.
4. Reservations for racquetball courts may be made up to two
days in advance. Reservations may be made over the phone during normal operation
hours. Center ID card is required to make reservation.
5. All reservations are for one hour periods and must be made
on the hour. A ten minute grace period will be followed for holding court
reservation.
6. If you are unable to keep your reservation, the Radford
Recreation Center must be notified prior to your appointment time. Two “no
shows” in one month will result in forfeiture of your right to make a court
reservation for a one month period.
7. Rackets, balls, and safety glasses are available and may be
checked out at the recreation center circulation desk.
8. All racquetball players must report to the recreation center
circulation desk to check in before entering the courts.
9. Children under the sixth grade may not use the racquetball
courts unless playing with a parent or adult.
10. Drinks and/or food will not be allowed on the racquetball
courts.
11. Courts are to be used for racquetball ONLY, unless
pre-approved by recreation center.

 

Fitness Rooms �

1. Prior to entering and using the fitness rooms patrons
should check in at the recreation center circulation desk.
2. Patrons are required to be a minimum of 13 years of age to
use the weight room facilities with parental supervision and a minimum of 16
years of age to use the weight room facilities without adult supervision.
3. All weights, bars, dumbbells, and other equipment must be
returned to its proper place after use.
4. Patrons are encouraged to bring a towel and clean off weight
and exercise equipment after
use.
5. Patrons use all equipment at their own risk.

 

Equipment Checkout �

1. All equipment will be issued at the recreation center
circulation desk.
2. The patron who checks out the equipment is responsible for
the equipment. If the equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged he/she must pay for
an equivalent replacement. Replacement will be determined by the recreation
department.
3. Anyone who does not return borrowed equipment may lose the
privilege of using the equipment.


Senior Center, Game Room,
Kitchen, Multi-purpose & Classrooms Policy

1. Prior to using these rooms the activity coordinator should
check in at the recreation center circulation desk.
2. Supplies in these areas are only to be sued by the Radford
Parks & Recreation programs.
3. Equipment cannot be used without permission from the
recreation center supervisor.
4. These areas are only available for Radford Parks and
Recreation programs and rentals. All other use must be approved by the
recreation center supervisor.
5. With the exception of the kitchen, drinks and/or food will
not be allowed in any of these areas unless approved by the recreation center
supervisor.
