The city of Radford is green and getting greener—trees were recently planted on the banks of the library. The Lorax event held at the library brought out over 40 citizens eager to be involved in the propagation of trees. The library too is planting seeds, participating in the educational needs of its citizens. We are pleased and proud to bring you all the resources you need to enrich your lives. We are constantly adding new titles and resources to our collections. Every spring, the Virginia Public Library Director’s Association recognizes excellence in the libraries across the state. On Thursday, April 26th, the Radford Public Library received two awards from this association: Outstanding Children’s Program and Outstanding Web site. The Harry Potter Party last summer was recognized for its phenomenal success. Over 250 people came to the library which had been recreated into Hogwarts. Library staff instructed attendees in the same classes taught by the characters in the J.K. Rowling novels. It was a magical event. Outstanding Web site was awarded to the Radford Public Library recognizing the mobile interface developed by library staff so that smart phone users can more easily access our website.
