Where Memories Come Alive

Exhibits

Local Sports History Exhibit

Radford's athletic tradition will get its proper attention in a new sports history exhibit starting in fall 2007 at Glencoe. This New River Valley-wide effort will feature several sports exhibits in various museums in the area, with Glencoe Museum focusing on Radford's unique sports heritage.

Radford Rockets 1947

Radford's one and only professional baseball team:
the Radford Rockets (1947).

The New River Heritage Coalition, a group consisting of various museums in the area is working on an ambitious project. To highlight the New River Valley's long sporting tradition, each member will present a local sports history exhibit starting in fall 2006.

A group of local Radford sports experts is already working on presenting an informative and interesting overview over more than 100 hundred years of athletic activity. Depending on the availability of different items, the exhibit will give an overview of the evolution of Radford sports and highlight some of its most memorable moments, teams, and athletes.
