Making Sports History - Coach Norman Lineburg, Paul Mannon, Dr. Mike Wright
January 24th, 6:30pm, Glencoe
From the early beginnings at St. Albans Boys School until today - Radford sports has a long tradition. The Radford Sports History exhibit shows many facets of it: the evolution of football, the Radford Rockets, the contributions of African-Americans, women, and many more. Follow Norman Lineburg, Paul Mannon, and Mike Wright - the “exhibit committee” - on a walk through one century of athletic activity.
The Families of Grace - Joanne S. Moche
March 20th, 6:30pm, Glencoe
One of the oldest churches in the city, Grace Episcopal is closely intertwined with the early history of Radford. Tracing its prominent families, local historian and geneaologist Joanne Moche, unearths many interesting details of Radford's past: Where do the probable descendents of the Native Americans who lived at the Trigg Site live today? Which early Radford resident was related to George Washington? Who was one of the "Immortal 600" Confederate prisoners? And who was murdered by a jealous husband (a Va Tech professor) for sleeping with the gentleman's wife? For answers, join us in March.
