Radford in the "Images of America" Series
On November 5th, the work of Board member John Barksdale is done. On this day, his new pictorial history of Radford in the "Images of America" series will hit the shelves. Come to the Museum Gift Store or reserve your copy in advance by email.
This is how the cover of new book will look like:
a railroad party in Radford's West End, 1893.
This major undertaking drew on various Radford photograph collections and consists of around 200 pictures from the area. John Barksdale, in cooperation with the Radford Heritage Foundation collected, scanned, and chose all the photographs, some of them never published before.
The book is made up of several chapters, each illustrating important and interesting parts of Radford's history. Every photograph is accompanied by a caption describing the person, scene, or building.
As part of our lecture series, John Barksdale will present his work to the public and sign copies of this new addition to the historic literature on Radford.
