Arnheim - the Home of Radford

Restoration Plans

Arnheim is on the Virginia Register of Landmarks and is one of the oldest brick buildings in the area. As the home of one of Radford's founding fathers and a long-time education facility it has significant historical value. The Radford Heritage Foundation is dedicated to restore Arnheim to its former prominence in the community.

Arnheim

Still majestic but battered by time -
Arnheim today.

After years of deterioration, however, the restoration of Arnheim will require a major effort of the Heritage Foundation that can only be successful with the support of the community. For the past months, a special committee under the leadership of Dr. Minnie Dean has discussed possible uses for Arnheim and viable strategies for rehabilitation. Starting 2007, the committee will reach out to the community and present its plans for the "Radford home".

The restoration of Arnheim will not be easy. Several rooms are in serious disrepair, moisture has gotten into the building, and there is no real access to the building. The Radford Heritage Foundation believes that with the support of the community, interested citizens, and an optimistic spirit we can overcome these obstacles and restore one of the most important landmarks of the community to its former glory.
